We are proud to announce our new product, as formulated alongside Caroline of Hedgerow Hounds. Introducing our Pawsome Veg Blend.

We have specifically chosen low GI vegetables for the seasonal vegetable & berry blends.

Starchy and sugary vegetables such as carrot for instance can be difficult to digest as well as potentially worsening the condition of itchy or yeasty dogs. All ingredients in the vegetable blend are particularly high in nutritional value as well as being easy to digest.

The addition of suitable vegetables, correctly prepared, offer many health benefits and have an alkalizing effect on the body. The phytonutrients found in plants, such as leafy greens, herbs and berries, have been shown to protect the body from serious illnesses and fed alongside our range of raw meals, support optimal health.

The ingredients chosen provide soluble and insoluble fibre which benefit the good gut bacteria. And as we now know, around 80% of the immune system is situated in the gut, so it is vital to keep it in peak health.

We take great care in sourcing the highest quality ingredients and believe in the importance of supporting local growers as well as celebrating seasonal variation. We are proud to have worked with a local supplier who grows the vegetables himself.

Vegetable Blend: Spring/Summer (may vary slightly due to availability and seasonality)

Broccoli: Broccoli is a member of the (brassica) cabbage family. It offers dietary fibre as well as phytonutrients such as beta-carotene, lutein and zeaxanthin which help fight against harmful disease and particularly supportive to correct vision and eye health.

Kale:  Kale is a leafy green vegetable which has earned its “superfood” status, as it is so nutrient dense. Rich in vitaminA, C and E, B vitamins such as folate, which is needed for energy, as well as calcium, iron, selenium, magnesium, phosphorous, potassium. It is also high in vitamin K which is essential for efficient healing of wounds.

Parsley:  Parsley is generally only used as a garnish, but it has much more to offer than making our food look attractive. It provides vitamin C, A, B, K, calcium, riboflavin, potassium, iron, magnesium, niacin, carotenoids, chlorophyll, and fibre. It is a gentle diuretic and supportive for the urinary and digestive tract as well as being an age-old natural breath freshener.

Mint: The cooling flavour and uplifting aroma of mint is great for digestion and freshening the breath. Rich in antioxidants including vitamin C and beta-carotene and a substance called rosmarinic acid which can help in managing seasonal allergies.

Blueberries/Raspberries: Berries are an excellent source of antioxidants, phytochemicals, vitamins, and soluble fibre. Antioxidants fight free-radicals responsible for cellular and molecular damage and slow down the aging process and cognitive decline. Alongside antioxidants are Anthocyanins, which give berries their purple and red colour, they work with antioxidants to lower the risk of disease.

Fennel seeds:  Fennel has a beautiful aniseed aroma and flavour. It has been used for centuries to soothe the gastrointestinal tract, assisting digestion and helping to alleviate gas. It also helps to freshen the breath and is traditionally used to increase milk flow in nursing mothers.

Calendula petals: Calendula with its vibrant yellow and orange petals, is a familiar sight in herb gardens. Traditionally used topically to heal skin conditions, it also has strong affinities with soothing the gut and mucus membranes.
